  2. Add the finely chopped onion, carrots, and paprika (if using). Stir and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, then add the oregano or bay leaf.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Let it cook covered over low heat for 5–10 minutes or more. Add the butter and stir very well.
  4. Serve over noodles or rice.
