Learn how to make original bookmarks using cardstock with this easy step-by-step tutorial. A perfect craft for kids this summer.

In this new post, I bring you some original handmade and very fun bookmarks for your summer reading. Reading is a hobby that excites me; it transports us to faraway places, allows us to experience unique situations, and lets us step into the shoes of different characters…
As a teacher, I try to instill in my students a passion for reading from a very young age, and this craft I’m sharing with you can be a simple way to help you achieve that.
To help you with this task, today I suggest creating some original bookmarks made with cardstock and googly eyes. We’ll make them with different designs, for example, in the shape of “minions” and little monsters :).
A fun object that they can easily and quickly make, perfect for accompanying children on their reading adventure.
Would you like to make some bookmarks like these with the younger members of the family? If so, pay attention, here we go!
Original bookmarks: What materials will we need?

– Fixokids colored cardstock!
– Scissors.
– Ruler.
– Fixoglue glue.
– Pack of Fixokids adhesive googly eyes!
Original bookmarks step by step
Let’s begin:

Step 1: To make this bookmark, the first thing to do is cut out a 14 cm x 14 cm square from the cardstock in the color you want.
Step 2: Next, we fold that square in half on both sides (so that we have the mark of the 4 inner squares).
Step 3: Next, we cut one of the squares.
Step 4: We mark the diagonal to the two end squares and cut it out.
Step 5: To finish, we glue the diagonals one on top of the other, so that we have a kind of little envelope to insert in the corner of the page we want to mark in our book.
Step 6: Finally, all that’s left is to decorate our monsters, birds, Minions ,… or whatever we can think of…
By following these 6 steps, you can make as many bookmarks as you want.
Besides cardboard bookmarks, you can also make them with other materials, such as EVA foam bookmarks or decorated wooden stick bookmarks.

Little by little, we will show you more examples of bookmarks that you can make at home or at school. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and give it a try! It’s a fun way to introduce little ones to reading and a simple, handmade gift perfect for any occasion.
Lots of kisses
