Slime without borax
Slime is a viscous, gelatinous mass that can be made with various materials. It has become popular as a stress-relieving homemade toy for young children. It comes in different colors, including opaque and white. One of the popular slime recipes used borax, or sodium borate, as an ingredient.
This immediately raised concerns because this product can cause skin burns. Here’s a kit to learn how to make slime without this ingredient. You can make it in different vibrant colors, and it has a translucent appearance.
Once finished, you can shape them, and playing with their texture makes it fun and relaxing. It is recommended for improving muscle tone and motor skills.

How to make slime without borax
In the starter kit, the clear glue comes in a bottle marked in 50ml increments to make it easier to add to the slime.
- In a large bowl, pour 50 ml of the clear glue (the one with the markings). Add a few drops of one of the colorants and mix with a cosmetic spatula. You can add more colorant until you achieve the desired shade.
- Using the small spatula (the one for creams), add baking soda. The amount should be about the size of the spatula when it’s heaped. Mix vigorously again to disperse the baking soda evenly.
- Now it’s time to add the activator. Add it little by little while mixing. You’ll see the slime take shape and start to detach from the bowl. Keep adding until it detaches completely.
- Once you have the slime out of the bowl, mix it well with your hands and add a little more activator so it doesn’t stick. In this step, you must mix vigorously, otherwise it will stick to your skin.
- Your slime is now ready to be stored in the jar and played with. Add a few drops of food coloring to the slime once it’s in the jar. Bubbles may appear, but they will disappear as the slime sits. Repeat the process, changing the food coloring to make slime of different colors.
Now you can play and have fun with your friends once you’ve learned how to make slime at home!
